On Monday, the US commerce department declared that they are blacklisting 28 Chinese entities. These entities are involved in rights violations and abuses targeting Muslim Minorities and Uighurs in the area of Xinjiang.
Wilbur Ross, secretary of commerce declared about the steps which bar the named entities from buying the US products. According to him “cannot and will not tolerate the brutal suppression of ethnic minorities within China.”
As per a report update to the US Federal Register expected to be published on Wednesday, the companies which are blacklisted named Hikvision, video surveillance company and other artificial intelligence companies include SenseTime and Megvii Technology.
The ban approaches the middle of the heightened tensions between China and the US, especially over the business trade policy and actions of Beijing’s in the western area of Xinjiang.
The biggest economies of the world in the middle of the trade war that’s seen them oblige tariffs on hundreds billion dollars in the bilateral trade.
There is another announcement from the side of the White House that talks between the two nations were set to continue on Thursday. With Beijing’s peak trade envoy Liu He due to gather Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.
Meanwhile, the US has stepped up its speechifying against Beijing over the policies in the area of western Xinjiang. According to the right group, China has controlled more than one million Uighurs and Muslims in the re-education camps of the area, actions that Washington has said are suggestive of Nazi Germany.
