Lost WC with split points is not a failure, Rijiju to Mary

Mary lost the Boxing Championship by 1-4 to Cakiroglu from Turkey in the 51Kg semi game. The Indian side decided to stage a protest against the authorities on how they rejected a valid score that was made by Mary Kom.

This 6-time champion got knocked out by Turkey’s Busenaz Cakirogluin the 51kg category by 1-4. The match was in Ulan-Ude, Russia. Mary has to return with a bronze medal.

The addition of this medal made her the only one to have this number of world championship medals in the country. She has a total of 8 medals now.

The BFI showed a yellow card to review the decision which was against the Indian contender. An official confirmed that the yellow card was given and the appeal to review was made which is still not confirmed if accepted, we have to wait.

Later, the IBA rejected the Indian appeal of the same. IBA told that as per rules, the protests will only be entertained if the scorecard said 3-2 or 3-1.

Mary Kom made her way to the semis by defeating Valencia in the quarterfinals by 5-0.
